Archaeological Walking Route Roermond – Kapellerkwartier

Length: 2.1 km. Discover the history of the Kapellerkwartier in Roermond. This walking route around the Kapel in ’t Zand takes you past historical highlights such as the Kruiswegpark, the chapel itself, and the witch burnings. You’ll also uncover the secrets behind various graves at the Old Cemetery of Roermond. Finally, at the Archeo Route Limburg location near the Kapel in ’t Zand, you’ll learn the story behind an archaeological find made at this site.

Along the route, you’ll be informed about the past at 15 different locations. At the end, at the Archeo Route location in the Kapellerkwartier, you’ll meet our virtual archaeologist Archie, who will guide you through the story behind the archaeological find discovered here. You’ll literally step back in time and see how the people of Limburg lived in that era. All of this is presented in a modern way using Augmented Reality and 3D, making it feel as if you’re right in the middle of history.
