Walk: Round Leveroy

Walk: Round Leveroy

Walk 4.5 km through Leveroy, past two national heritage monuments, historic farmsteads and the Tungelroyse brook.

Discover Leveroy

This 4.5-kilometre walk starts at St. Barbara Church, whose origins date back to the 13th century, and then takes you past the two national heritage monuments Leveroy is proud of: Thomassenhof, built in 1804, and Schreurshof, from 1768, both still showing their original courtyard and architectural style.

Following Onderweg, you'll head into Leveroy's rural surroundings, walking through wide open fields until you reach the Tungelroyse brook. Near De Ouden Hof you'll pass the site of a watermill that operated from 1244 to 1879, and a little further along stands De Körver, once home to a basket weaver. A wooden footbridge over the brook offers lovely views of its winding course and the surrounding fields.

Along the way, look out for the old mill site, where a windmill stood until 1944 before being replaced by an engine. After your walk, it's well worth relaxing on the terrace of Café-Zaal Wetemans, Leveroy's living room for over a hundred years.

An atmospheric route that beautifully combines nature and local history.
