In 1934, a farm laborer discovered six bronze objects somewhere between Overloon and Venray: two swords, two spearheads, a bent-edged axe, and a cloak pin. The finds date back to the Early Bronze Age, meaning they are about 3,800 years old.
The weapons come from different regions and belong to the Sögel-Wohlde group. This culture is known for its characteristic burial mounds, often with richly adorned grave goods such as bronze weapons and jewelry. The finds are stored in the depot of the Noordbrabants Museum in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
